RaVae Luckhart is a professional artist and retired professor. She maintains active studios, L ‘Atelier du Papier in Rapid City, South Dakota and L ’Atelier du Papier Ouest on San Juan Island, Washington. RaVae founded the Art Program at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. As a full professor, she created the first fine art gallery at an engineering university in the US and directed it for sixteen years. For this work she was awarded a Fulbright Teaching Fellowship. She was also awarded a medal from Army Four Star General Joulwan for bringing segments of the Berlin Wall and accompanying exhibition to Rapid City, South Dakota, ultimately creating a permanent historical installation on the theme of freedom just miles from Mt Rushmore. 

While building her home/studio in the San Juans, RaVae assumed a foundational role in the creation and development of the San Juan Islands Museum of Art located in Friday Harbor. She is an ardent supporter and volunteer, having served on the Executive Board, Exhibition Committee and working with volunteers.
